Martin Barringer
, founder and managing director of Actuarial Solutions Limited, has extensive experience as a practising actuary and in IT for actuarial applications. Martin holds a post-graduate diploma in computer science from Cambridge University, is a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (FIA), Member of the British Computer Society (MBCS) and Chartered IT Practitioner (CITP).

Martin has gained experience with employee benefit consultancies, insurance companies and specialist IT system suppliers for pensions and insurance applications.

Having previously held a Scheme Actuary practising certificate for more than twelve years, Martin is familiar with the requirements of actuaries advising the trustees and sponsors of defined benefit pension schemes.

Past IT projects include development of a valuation system for defined benefit pension schemes, a system for calculation of compensation under the Financial Services Authority review of FSAVC policies, the valuation of unit-linked insurance policies, pension transfer analysis system and TAS M compliance review.  Martin has also assisted in projects for the Government Actuary's Department and the Pensions Regulator.
